Arizona News New TT Director for ArizonaBy John Lindsey Published: July 31, 2006 Print Email PHOENIX, AZ (July 30, 2006) NASA Arizona is proud to announce the appointment of Brady Dohrmann as Time Trial Director for the region. Brady had been working the position of Assistant Race Director and steps into his new role after proving his skills at the Time Trial discipline by shattering track records and turning in an impressive performance in the May Super Street Time Trial event at PIR in May. We asked Brady about how he got started in Time Trialing and driving on the track. Here’s what he had to say: “I did my first NASA event in 1998 at the age of 18. At my third event I totaled my car at Firebird Raceway! I didn't return for six years - not due to hard feelings, but because I didn't have a track car and decided to go to school and chase girls instead. I returned to NASA in 2004 by running the January event at Arizona Motorsports Park; the next day the track was closed due to noise complaints! I haven't missed a month since, and have run NASA events at Firebird Raceway, Arroyo Seco Raceway (New Mexico), Willow Springs and Phoenix Intl. Raceway, which is still my favorite track.” “Since returning to NASA in '04, I've owned and driven three different 240SXs with lap times at PIR ranging from 1:21 down to 1:07. I started up the AZ region US Drift run group as well to give Arizona drifters a place to play. Our first US Drift event was in May 2004 with just seven cars and we've had a full schedule since. Other than NASA events, I enjoy Solo2, playing the drums, fishing, working and tinkering with cars.” We then asked Brady about his current ride, a 1996 Nissan 240SX. “I originally bought the car from a Hawaiian guy who was into drifting, but within a matter of weeks had it transformed to an HPDE ride and started doing events. I ran 1:15s in this car my first weekend out at PIR and have been developing it ever since. The car is actually very basic, but doesn't lack in a few critical categories: it has huge tires, huge brakes, good power and most of all; I have a lot of laps in the car! Power output now is at 270hp on the dyno with the car weighing in at 2650lbs. Recent accomplishments have been the overall win at the Super Street Qualifier in May 06, first place in RWD (3rd overall) at GT Live in Phoenix, TTB track record at PIR with a 1:07.3 and a feature in Best Motoring's video American Touge 2. “ We are proud to welcome Brady to his new leadership role and we look forward to seeing the AZ-TT program grow into one of the finest and most competitive series in the nation.
