RICHMOND, CA - May 29, 2008.  The National Auto Sport Association (NASA)
is pleased to announce that Andrew Racing will offer a generous contingency
program for Time Trial competitors using Hawk Performance brake pads during

As you may know, NASA's Mid-Atlantic region put on a big TT for _Grassroots Motorsports_ magazine on Friday July 27th at VIR's north course.  It was called the Ultimate Track Car Challenge and it was a lot of fun!  Details are here:

Lucrative 2007 Hankook Tire Contingency Program for NASA TT 

Hankook Tire America Corp. and Hankook Motorsports have provided a
lucrative 2007 contingency award program that NASA Time Trial participants
are eligible to partake in at both regional events and at the NASA
Championships.  Awards for regional events are in the form of Hankook Dollar
certificates, which are redeemable towards the purchase of Hankook Ventus
race tires from any official Hankook Motorsports dealer. Awards for the NASA
Championships are
cash prizes. The total potential value of this program to
NASA TT drivers, if all potential maximum payouts occurred, would be over
$450,000 in Hankook DollarCertificates and $20,000 in cash prizes.

Porterfield Enterprises Announces 2007 NASA TT Championships Prizes

The National Auto Sport Association (NASA) is pleased to announce that Porterfield Enterprises LTD will provide a total of $1,575 in certificates toward purchases of brake pads to the top finishers in NASA Time Trial competition at the 2nd annual NASA Championship event at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Sept 13th-16th, 2007.

Porterfield’s sales manager, Tim Gray, said, “We are proud to have been a sponsor of both NASA TT in the Southern California region since the program began in 2004, and the inaugural NASA TT Championships in 2006.  We are pleased to be able to continue our TT National Championship sponsorship at the 2007 NASA Championships.”

The award program will apply to all Time Trial classes (TTR, TTU, TTS, TTA, TTB, TTC, TTD, TTE, TTF). There is no contingency tied to this prize program.  The program will award certificates to the top finishers in each class as follows:

1st Place: $100
2nd Place: $50
3rd Place: $25

TOYO SUPPORTS ALL CLASSES AT THE CHAMPIONSHIPS

The National Auto Sport Association (NASA) is pleased to announce the expansion of Toyo Tires support for non specified tire racing classes and Time Trial at the Championship event. Toyo Tires will offer contingency programs in the form of “Toyo Dollars” to eligible racers who compete on the Toyo RA-1 or R888 competition tire.

1) Race Classes that do not specify use of Toyo Tires: “Toyo Dollars” rebate certificates will be awarded in the order of finish and by the size of class entrants who start the race:

The 2007 Super Street Time Attack dates have been set.  The Final will be on November 6th & 7th at Buttonwillow Raceway Park. 

There will be four qualifying events where 3 "limited" and 3 "unlimited" drivers will qualify for the Final:
May 5th/6th        Phoenix International Raceway
July 7th/8th        Willow Springs International Raceway
July 28th/29th     Virginia International Raceway (North)
Aug. 11th/12th    Road Atlanta

(note: the older version of the TTS-TTU-TTR Form had an error in the transmission modification calculation that has now been corrected.)

The majority of the changes in this revision are in base class model groups. There were many changes for the '07 models, and we added a lot of new model groups. Please review the table to make sure that nothing changed for your car. There were a few changes to curb weights and classes of older cars that have been previously discussed on the forums. But, there have been a few changes, also, for some later models that needed to be separated from the older models, and grouped with the '07's. All changes are in red print.

This is a summary of the other items addressed in this revision (also in red print). Most of these items have already been discussed on the forums. All issues were brought out during forum discussions or e-mails from competitors requesting clarifications of modifications:

Weight Reduction--
no substantial change, just a few words to better clarify when the alternate weight method must be used. "or lightening of" and "or not otherwise assessed points" added
Engine Drivetrain--
11) Dry sump with motor lowering changed to +14 (from +15)
16) Air intake modification--"intercooler" piping and "hood air inlet(s)" mods added to the list
38) "Relocation of engine/transmission within 10 inches of OEM location +7" added
Suspension/Brakes/Chassis--
28) "+1 for "B pillar" harness bar not used for harness restraints" added
Aerodynamics--
3) and 4) "(top surface/tab) height" added to clarify measurement of wing height.
11) "Add vortex generator to roof, rear window, or rear deck +1" added
No Points Modifications--
11) "ratio" added to "Final drive ratio modification"
26) "unmodified" added to gasoline description
26) "Fuel additives are prohibited" added
41) "Seam welding of the body/chassis" added
42) "Harness bar--must be a single bar, placed between the "B pillars" of a car that does not have a roll cage or bar, at a height suitable to comply with the CCR harness rules. The bar must be used to anchor or guide occupant harness restraints." added
43) "Shock tower reinforcement plate (to strengthen tower shock mount location only--no bars)" added
44) "Shock mount replacement/modification (only if alreay taking points for both shocks and springs)(may raise or lower mount location up to two (2) inches if no horizontal movement)" added
Section 8 On-Course Conduct
Added: "Drivers are cautioned not to deliberately draft with another vehicle, except prior to making a pass. Prolonged drafting or "team" drafting may result in penalties for both drivers.

The on-line Classer tool will not be available until February.  The final target date has not been determined yet.

Thank you to all of you that participated in the beta test release of the TT rules last week. We have now released the Official 2007 Rules for both TT and PT. There are a lot of changes from the previous years rules.  As well, there were various changes made from the v 4.2 beta test version. Please review all base classing and modification/points rules, as the changes that were made from the beta test v4.2 were almost entirely to those sections. For those that never saw v4.2, please review the entire set of rules, because there are changes in much of the text of the remaining sections as well. We do not plan on making any further changes to the TT Rules en masse, except that most '07 car classing still needs to be evaluated. So, unless the listing of a base class specifically states '07 in it, please don't assume that '07 classing for that model won't change in the next few weeks. We expect to have all '07 classing, as well as the multiple requests for other models that have come in over the past week, completed in the next few weeks. If you own a specific '07 model that you would like to have evaluated more quickly, please e-mail the National TT Director. Remember that former motor swap classifications from '06 need to be re-evaluated--please e-mail the info needed to re-evaluate your swap.

Thanks again to all of you for your comments over the past week. We evaluated all of the ideas posted, and did incorporate some of the them into this revision.  It will take a few weeks to get the on-line Classers up and running because of the amount of data that needs to be changed, as well as the re-programming necessary due to the changes in the rules.

Good luck in '07. It should be a great year for NASA TT!
