Profiles: Jon Felton, Mid-Atlantic TT Director & Driver

Age: turning 32 in April '07
From: Richmond, Virginia
Favorite Writers: Hunter S. Thompson, Friedrich Nietzsche, Carroll Smith
Favorite Movies: Le Mans, Grand Prix, The Gumball Rally
Favorite Drivers: Phil Hill, Colin McRae, Chris Cobetto

Jon's first driving event was a local autocross in the early 1990's with a borrowed Toyota MR2.  As a teenage novice in a mid-engine car, he lifted off the throttle in a slalom and promptly spun out.  From that moment, he was totally hooked.  Fifteen years and thousands of hours later, he remains obsessed with the many elements of high performance driving and roadracing.

Jon has been a Mid-Atlantic member and official since 1998.  He is a former Regional Director with experience in all specialties who now serves as Time Trial Director and Autocross Coordinator.  He is also a certified High Performance Driving Instructor who loves to convey the principles of "safe, fast fun" to anyone who will listen.  For all his behind-the-scenes duties within the organization, he was honored to receive the "Directors Award" from Chris Cobetto (current Regional Director and reigning Spec E30 National Champion) in January 2007.

Although Jon has owned and tracked everything from 12A RX-7's to B13 Sentra SE-R's to E30 BMW's, his current project is a 1998 BMW M3 Sedan which runs in TTD and NASA-X D:

According to Jon, the M3/4 is "mostly stock, because I still drive it on the street a lot."  Modifications include a Cosmos Racing cold-air intake, a custom stainless steel cat-back exhaust, Eibach adjustable anti-swaybars, Bilstein Sport shocks/struts, Ground Control billet & urethane rear shock mounts, BMW Motorsport X-Brace, Rogue Engineering transmission mounts, swapped strut mounts for more negative camber up front, Powerflex front lower control arm bushings, Hawk HT-10 brake pads, Kosei K1 wheels with Toyo RA-1 tires, and more.  Further modifications in 2007 (while still staying in TTD and NASA-X D) include a UUC short-shifter and a front strut tower brace.
